Marathon FFA Chapter Celebrates National FFA Week

The Marathon FFA Chapter welcomed national leadership during its National FFA Week celebrations, Feb. 23-27. The week featured a different spirit day theme, and students dressed up according to the day’s theme, from USA apparel and western wear to FFA blue and gold and flannels.

On Thursday, the Marathon FFA chapter welcomed the New York FFA President, Zoe Valencia, New York FFA Sentinel, Matt Mulligan, and National FFA Western Region Vice President, Jael Cruikshank, along with their staff. Leadership and students toured Ensign Family Maple to learn about maple syrup production and sample several Marathon-made flavors. The group later reconvened at Marathon Jr./Sr. High School for a pancake dinner.

The celebrations culminated on Friday with the “Ag Olympics,” where students and staff competed in agricultural-themed competition, including barrel racing, milk chugging, and hay box stacking. MCS Agriculture Teacher and FFA Advisor Megan Friscia headed up organizing the week’s events, an annual tradition enjoyed by both FFA members and the broader student body.
