Meet Your 2025-2026 BOE Student Representative: Delaney Reilly
Marathon High School senior Delaney Reilly is this year’s student representative for the Board of Education. Read below to learn more about her and the experience she’s gaining through this opportunity. How did you get involved with this role?
“I’ve always been involved with the community and I’m in various groups and clubs. I’ve always looked up to the administration and the way that they run the school. I thought it would be a great opportunity to become a part of that, so my voice is also heard along with the community I grew up in.”
What has been your favorite part so far?
“I love getting the chance to represent my classmates and make sure that their voices are heard, as well as getting the chance to hear firsthand what the Board is planning for the future in our district.”
What are some skills you’ve learned that will help your future career goals?
“I’ve been able to work on public speaking and communicating my thoughts and opinions well, and I'm able to be more clearly understood. I am in cosmetology school in high school, and I plan to major in business administration at Utica University while playing field hockey. By being able to communicate well, I’m setting myself up to build clientele and overall become a contributing member in society.”
What are your other extracurriculars at Marathon?
“I play three sports. I am in field hockey, basketball, and I run track. I am a member of Future Business Leaders of America. I compete in various public speaking and business/advertising-centered competitions. I am also involved with FFA, Future Farmers of America, where I also publicly speak.”
What advice would you give to other students who are looking to take on a leadership role?
“Don’t be afraid. I think the borderline reason that people don’t make sure their voices are heard is because they’re afraid of judgment. Our administration just wants to see us succeed. By putting your voice out there, you’re helping not only yourself but also other students. Not only building your skills for the future but making sure your school is as safe and enjoyable as can be.”
