The Appleby Elementary School Weather Station is certified as part of the Homeland Security WeatherNet Network. This network is a partnership between private weather stations that have met rigid certification standards and the National Weather Service. If a homeland security incident or disaster takes place, the National Weather Service will now pull in real-time weather data from the Appleby Elementary Station to provide very precise forecast models that government agencies, the military and emergency managers can use to make critical decisions.
